The Now Teach-NIoT Career Changers Programme is open for applications, ahead of starting in July 2026.
You can apply via our main website by filling out our online form. Just make a note during your application, or when you speak to our career change specialists, that you’re interested in joining this particular programme.

What’s the eligibility criteria for the programme?

Is there an age limit for retraining to teach?
No, there’s no age limit – and it’s never too late to train as a teacher! The average age of our Now Teachers is currently 47, and our oldest member is 67.
What training qualification will I get?
Training on the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) Initial Teacher Training course (ITT) means you’ll qualify as a teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
I studied outside the UK – how do I find out if I’m qualified to teach?
You can verify any international qualifications you hold through ENIC (European Network of Information Centres). While we can perform a short assessment for you, you’ll need to confirm officially with ENIC before you can apply to become a teacher.
Can I train part time?
Yes, you can train part time on the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) Initial Teacher Training course (ITT). Let us know that you’re interested in training part time when you speak with us.
I’ve found a training place already – can I still get support from Now Teach?
Yes, you can still get support from Now Teach if you’ve already found a training place. But it might mean you can’t join the programme. Once you’ve registered with us, we’ll be able to explore your eligibility and work out how we can best support you.
I want to retrain, but I’m not eligible for this programme – can I still become a teacher?
Yes, you can still retrain to be a teacher if you’re not eligible for this programme. But it depends on why you’re not eligible, as some of the criteria is set by the Department for Education.
To retrain with support from Now Teach outside of this programme, you’ll need 15 years’ career experience (which can include a career break), an undergraduate degree and Maths/English Language GCSE at grade C/4 or above.
